App Redesign

National Parks Service

The National Parks Service App functions as your guide for visiting any of the 420+ national parks the United States has to offer. The app provides their users with access to information about each park including alerts, accessibility, activities, and amenities. However, since there are so many parks packed into one app, there are a few challenges with the user experience.

This project sets out to solve those user experience issues by simplifying the user interface and incorporating seamless navigation all while taking unique and enticing design approaches.

Design Approach

The design choices within this project not only reflects user-friendly design decisions, but it also pays homage to the old-fashioned, linen-style postcards that documented America’s natural wonders in an optimistic light. The use of earthy tones and textured photographic treatment work together to convey this approach. The idea was to not only inform the users about these landmarks, but to also encourage users to actually go out visit these parks.
