A Woman's Reality

Sexual harassment is a broad term. There are different understandings of the term, but ultimately, it refers to any type of unwelcome verbal and physical sexual attention. So, where is the line drawn? When is it just a crude joke and when does it become a threat, an intimidation tact, or a way of coercion? Sexual Harassment is a reality that women face daily that is often dismissed.

This project sets out to promote "A Woman’s Reality," a day-long conference that both raises awareness about sexual harassment while simultaneously creating a platform for women who have experienced some form of sexual harassment to spotlight their stories. The goal is to allow for women to feel validated in their struggles with sexual misconduct and harassment.

Posters

The poster series portrays how women feel unsafe going about their day and how sexual harassment greatly impacts their day-to-day lives.

It reveals how it’s expected of women to carry self-defense protection with them everywhere they go. With the conference’s primary audience being young women, the poster series’ objective is to use powerful, compelling, and feminine imagery to grab the attention of the passersby and direct traffic to the event.

Brochure

The brochure continues the visual system established by the poster series. The brochure is available at the event and is used to inform the viewer about the issue while also establishing the itinerary for the conference.

Website

The website deliverable functions largely as the most informative element of the project. The viewer is provided with information pertaining to the social cause, information regarding the program, and resources for those who might have faced sexual harassment.
